Oracle Linux 5 : ELSA-2016-0450-1: / kernel (ELSA-2016-04501) (deprecated)

high Nessus Plugin ID 181020

Synopsis

This plugin has been deprecated.

Description

The remote Oracle Linux 5 host has packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the ELSA-2016-04501 advisory.

- Integer overflow in the fb_mmap function in drivers/video/fbmem.c in the Linux kernel before 3.8.9, as used in a certain Motorola build of Android 4.1.2 and other products, allows local users to create a read- write memory mapping for the entirety of kernel memory, and consequently gain privileges, via crafted /dev/graphics/fb0 mmap2 system calls, as demonstrated by the Motochopper pwn program. (CVE-2013-2596)

- The x86 emulator in Xen 3.2.x through 4.5.x does not properly ignore segment overrides for instructions with register operands, which allows local guest users to obtain sensitive information, cause a denial of service (memory corruption), or possibly execute arbitrary code via unspecified vectors. (CVE-2015-2151)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

This plugin has been deprecated as it is a duplicate of oraclelinux_ELSA-2016-0450-1.nasl (plugin ID 89978).
