Synopsis

The remote Red Hat 4 host is affected by multiple vulnerabilities that will not be patched.

Description

The remote Redhat Enterprise Linux 4 host has one or more packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities that have been acknowledged by the vendor but will not be patched.

 - multiple vulnerabilities in lha (CVE-2006-4336, CVE-2006-4337)

 - Array index error in the make_table function in unlzh.c in the LZH decompression component in gzip 1.3.5, when running on certain platforms, allows context-dependent attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) and possibly execute arbitrary code via a crafted GZIP archive that triggers an out-of-bounds write, aka a stack modification vulnerability. (CVE-2006-4335)

 - lharc.c in lha does not securely create temporary files, which might allow local users to read or write files by creating a file before LHA is invoked. (CVE-2007-2030)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied on the package manager's report that the package is installed.
