Synopsis

The remote Red Hat 5 host is affected by multiple vulnerabilities that will not be patched.

Description

The remote Redhat Enterprise Linux 5 host has one or more packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities that have been acknowledged by the vendor but will not be patched.

 - freeradius: Out-of-bounds write in rad_coalesce() (CVE-2017-10979)

 - modules/rlm_unix/rlm_unix.c in FreeRADIUS before 2.2.0, when unix mode is enabled for user authentication, does not properly check the password expiration in /etc/shadow, which allows remote authenticated users to authenticate using an expired password. (CVE-2011-4966)

 - FreeRADIUS 2.2.x before 2.2.8 and 3.0.x before 3.0.9 does not properly check revocation of intermediate CA certificates. (CVE-2015-4680)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied on the package manager's report that the package is installed.

Solution

The vendor has acknowledged the vulnerabilities but no solution has been provided. Refer to the vendor for remediation guidance.
