high Nessus Plugin ID 199443

Synopsis

The remote Red Hat 5 host is affected by multiple vulnerabilities that will not be patched.

Description

The remote Redhat Enterprise Linux 5 host has one or more packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities that have been acknowledged by the vendor but will not be patched.

- cairo: Out-of-bounds read due to mishandling of unexpected malloc(0) call (CVE-2017-9814)

- Integer overflow in the write_png function in cairo 1.14.6 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (invalid pointer dereference) via a large svg file. (CVE-2016-9082)

- Cairo version 1.15.4 is vulnerable to a NULL pointer dereference related to the FT_Load_Glyph and FT_Render_Glyph resulting in an application crash. (CVE-2017-7475)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied on the package manager's report that the package is installed.

Solution

The vendor has acknowledged the vulnerabilities but no solution has been provided. Refer to the vendor for remediation guidance.
