1.2.3.2.6 Configure 'Do not display Install Updates and Shut Down; option in Shut Down Windows dialog box'

Information

This policy setting allows you to manage whether the Install Updates and Shut Down option is displayed in the Shut Down Windows dialog box. This policy setting works in conjunction with the following Do not adjust default option to 'Install Updates and Shut Down' in Shut Down Windows Dialog box setting. Updates are important for maintaining the ongoing security of a computer, therefore this setting should not be enabled.

Solution

Configure the following Group Policy setting in a manner that is consistent with the security and operational requirements of your organization-

Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Windows Update\Do not display 'Install Updates and Shut Down' option in Shut Down Windows dialog box

Impact- If you disable this policy setting, the Install Updates and Shut Down option will display in the Shut Down Windows dialog box if updates are available when the user selects the Shut Down option in the Start menu.
