1.1.40 (L2) Ensure 'New Tab Page' is set to 'Disabled'

Information

The New Tab page shows a list of built-in top sites, as well as the top sites the user has visited by default.

The recommended state for this setting is: Disabled

Allowing the collection of browsing history by Firefox could inadvertently lead to sensitive data being exposed.

Solution

To establish the recommended configuration via GP, set the following UI path to Disabled :

Computer Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Mozilla\Firefox\New Tab Page

Note: This Group Policy path does not exist by default. An additional Group Policy template ( firefox.admx/adml ) is required - it is available to download at this

link

.

Impact:

Top site and user history will not be available on a new tab.
