Solution

To disable the Solaris Volume Manager, run the following commands-

svcadm disable svc:/system/metainit

svcadm disable svc:/system/mdmonitor

In addition, run the appropriate command for the Solaris 10 level that you are running-

Solaris 10 <= 11/06

svcadm disable svc:/platform/sun4u/mpxio-upgrade

Solaris 10 >= 8/07

svcadm disable svc:/system/device/mpxio-upgrade
