3.5 - Secure SNMPv3 communication should be used

Information

Secure SNMPv3 should be used for secure communication between the agent and manager

SNMP agent decodes SNMP credentials in requests and passes the SNMP user name to the security realm. The security realm maps the SNMP user name to a WebLogic Server user, authenticates the user, and authorizes access to monitoring data in the domain.

NOTE: Nessus has not performed this check. Please review the benchmark to ensure target compliance.

Solution

To set SNMP secure communications perform the following actions:
1. Create a WebLogic Server user
2. On the Create SNMP Credential Mapping page, from the Credential Mapping Type list, select Privacy enter the user name and password
3. On the Credential Mappings page, click the Agents tab and configure the agent.
