Tenable Product Name Changes and the Evolution of the Tenable Brand

Tenable is changing its products’ names to make them more descriptive, so that it’s easier for people to understand our portfolio and the capabilities we offer. 

Tenable customers, partners, employees and friends will notice a change in Tenable product names rolling out during 2023. Gone is the “dot,” replaced by a descriptive naming format that, for example, changes the name Tenable.io to Tenable Vulnerability Management. We’re applying this descriptive naming to all Tenable products, as shown in the table below.

Why make a change? The primary reason is to make Tenable’s portfolio easier for people to understand. Tenable has grown quite a lot in recent years and we have expanded far beyond vulnerability management to cover cloud security, identity exposure, OT security, attack surface management, web application scanning, and ultimately, exposure management. People shouldn’t have to decipher our product names before understanding the capabilities we offer.

In addition, in late 2022 we released our flagship platform, Tenable One. All Tenable capabilities are available through Tenable One and this combination provides much more value than the sum of the parts. Our vision is to help customers achieve exposure management by gaining full visibility across the modern attack surface, applying contextual insights to prioritize risk-prevention activities, and communicating risk accurately to all stakeholders. Exposure management is less about providing a portfolio of individual products and more about combining the right set of capabilities to maximize value for our customers.

We know that change can cause disruption and confusion. Our aim is to help our customers, partners and other stakeholders stay focused on their business priorities and not worry too much about what our products are named. Below we’ve included a before-and-after table to help you keep things straight as the changes roll out. We hope this helps. But mostly, we hope this change makes the Tenable brand and portfolio easier for more people to understand so they can gain even more value from it in the future.
