Slack notification integration for
Tenable Cloud Security

App overview

With the official Tenable Cloud Security app, you can:

  • Send notifications to a Slack channel when specific findings are created in Tenable. This provides visibility and enhances communication of your cloud security posture on a continuous basis. Each notification includes information about the finding, in which cloud account it was found, and a link to see it in the Tenable Cloud Security Console.
  • Use Slack as part of the self-service Just-in-Time (JIT) access workflow in Tenable to allow users to easily request/approve access. Tenable JIT enables speedy approval for as-needed access that minimizes your cloud attack surface and prevents long-standing privileges.

How it works

Only someone with an “Owner” or “Admin” role can add your Slack workplace; however, any user can add a Slack channel.

After integrating a workspace, Tenable will automatically identify all channels and make them available for use, even though individual channels will not be listed on the Tenable integration page for Slack. When you add a new channel after integrating your workspace, it may take several minutes before the channel is available for use within Tenable.

For more information on how to integrate your Slack workspace and channel(s) with Tenable, refer to Tenable Cloud Security product documentation. Credentials are needed to access the documentation site.

View Tenable findings in Slack

In your Slack Workspace, navigate to the channel where the findings were sent, depending on what was configured in the automation rule or manual action.

Use Slack as part of the Tenable JIT workflow

Once you integrate Slack with JIT, users can request access via Slack commands. Approval requests are automatically sent via private messages to all designated approvers (assuming they have a Slack account in the configured workspace), allowing them to natively review requests in Slack. Private approval requests are sent via the Tenable Slack app. You can also choose to send approval requests to specific Slack channels.
