Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in Mozilla Thunderbird 17.x through 17.0.8, Thunderbird ESR 17.x through 17.0.10, and SeaMonkey before 2.20 allows user-assisted remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via an e-mail message containing a data: URL in a (1) OBJECT or (2) EMBED element, a related issue to CVE-2013-6674.

Versions of Mozilla Thunderbird prior to 17.0.8 are affected by the following vulnerabilities :

 - A flaw exists because the program does not validate URLs in IFRAME elements before returning it to users.
 - A flaw exists because the program does not validate input when handling a specially crafted EMBED or OBJECT element.

These vulnerabilities may allow a context-dependent attacker to create a specially crafted request that would execute arbitrary script code in a user's browser session within the trust relationship between their browser and the server.

The installed version of Thunderbird is 17.x or later but prior to 24. It is, therefore, potentially affected the following vulnerabilities:

  - The NativeKey widget does not properly terminate key     messages, possibly leading to a denial of service attack.
