Integer underflow in the cupsRasterReadPixels function in filter/raster.c in CUPS before 2.0.2 allows remote attackers to have unspecified impact via a malformed compressed raster file, which triggers a buffer overflow.

The remote Redhat Enterprise Linux 5 host has one or more packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities that have been acknowledged by the vendor but will not be patched.

  - cups: code execution via unescape ANSI escape sequences (CVE-2014-8166)

  - cups: incorrect string reference counting (VU#810572) (CVE-2015-1158)

  - The web interface for CUPS before 1.3.10 does not validate the HTTP Host header in a client request, which     makes it easier for remote attackers to conduct DNS rebinding attacks. (CVE-2009-0164)

According to the versions of the cups package installed, the EulerOS Virtualization installation on the remote host is affected by the following vulnerabilities :

  - A cross-site scripting (XSS) flaw was found in the CUPS     web interface. An attacker could use this flaw to     perform a cross-site scripting attack against users of     the CUPS web interface.(CVE-2014-2856)

  - A localhost.localdomain whitelist entry in valid_host()     in scheduler/client.c in CUPS before 2.2.2 allows     remote attackers to execute arbitrary IPP commands by     sending POST requests to the CUPS daemon in conjunction     with DNS rebinding. The localhost.localdomain name is     often resolved via a DNS server (neither the OS nor the     web browser is responsible for ensuring that     localhost.localdomain is 127.0.0.1).(CVE-2017-18190)

In CUPS before 1.7.4, a local user with privileges of group=lp can write symbolic links in the rss directory and use that to gain '@SYSTEM' group privilege with cupsd (CVE-2014-3537).

It was discovered that the web interface in CUPS incorrectly validated permissions on rss files and directory index files. A local attacker could possibly use this issue to bypass file permissions and read arbitrary files, possibly leading to a privilege escalation (CVE-2014-5029, CVE-2014-5030, CVE-2014-5031).

A malformed file with an invalid page header and compressed raster data can trigger a buffer overflow in cupsRasterReadPixels (CVE-2014-9679).

Peter De Wachter discovered that CUPS, the Common UNIX Printing System, did not correctly parse compressed raster files. By submitting a specially crafted raster file, a remote attacker could use this vulnerability to trigger a buffer overflow.

For the oldstable distribution (squeeze), this problem has been fixed in version 1.4.4-7+squeeze7.

For the stable distribution (wheezy), this problem has been fixed in version 1.5.3-5+deb7u5.
