The XFS implementation in the Linux kernel before 3.15 improperly uses an old size value during remote attribute replacement, which allows local users to cause a denial of service (transaction overrun and data corruption) or possibly gain privileges by leveraging XFS filesystem access.

  - Race condition vulnerability was found in     drivers/misc/mic/vop/vop_vringh.c in the MIC VOP driver     in the Linux kernel before 4.6.1. MIC VOP driver does     two successive reads from user space to read a variable     length data structure. A local attacker could     craft BPF code to crash the system by creating a     situation in which the JIT compiler would fail to     correctly optimize the JIT image on the last pass.   - A security flaw was discovered in     nl80211_set_rekey_data() function in the Linux kernel     since v3.1-rc1 through v4.13. This function does not     check whether the required attributes are present in a     netlink request.   - The atyfb_ioctl function in     drivers/video/fbdev/aty/atyfb_base.c in the Linux     kernel through 4.12.10 does not initialize a certain     data structure, which allows local users to obtain     sensitive information from kernel stack memory by     reading locations associated with padding     bytes.(CVE-2017-14156i1/4%0

  - kernel/events/core.c in the performance subsystem in     the Linux kernel before 4.0 mismanages locks during     certain migrations, which allows local users to gain     privileges via a crafted application, aka Android     internal bug 31095224.(CVE-2016-6787i1/4%0

  - The ioresources_init function in kernel/resource.c in     the Linux kernel through 4.7, as used in Android before     2016-08-05 on Nexus 6 and 7 (2013) devices, uses weak     permissions for /proc/iomem, which allows local users     to obtain sensitive information by reading this file,     aka Android internal bug 28814213 and Qualcomm internal     bug CR786116.     * The sosreport executable would hang when reading     /proc/net/rpc/use-gss-proxy because of faulty wait_queue logic in the proc     handler. This wait_queue logic was removed from the proc handler, allowing     the reads to correctly return the current state. (BZ#1169900)

    * The MRG Realtime kernel-rt sources have been modified to take advantage     of the updated 3.10 kernel sources that are available with the Red Hat     Enterprise Linux 7 releases. (BZ#1172844)

* A flaw was found in the way the Linux kernel's netfilter subsystem handled generic protocol tracking. As demonstrated in the Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP) case, a remote attacker could use this flaw to bypass intended iptables rule restrictions when the associated connection tracking module was not loaded on the system.

* An information leak flaw was found in the Linux kernel's IEEE 802.11 wireless networking implementation. When software encryption was used, a remote attacker could use this flaw to leak up to 8 bytes of plaintext. (CVE-2014-8709, Low)

* A stack-based buffer overflow flaw was found in the TechnoTrend/Hauppauge DEC USB device driver. A local user with write access to the corresponding device could use this flaw to crash the kernel or, potentially, elevate their privileges on the system.

A flaw was found in the way the Linux kernel's XFS file system handled replacing of remote attributes under certain conditions. A local user with access to XFS file system mount could potentially use this flaw to escalate their privileges on the system.

The remote Redhat Enterprise Linux 7 host has packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the RHSA-2015:0290 advisory.

    The kernel packages contain the Linux kernel, the core of any Linux     operating system.

    * An out-of-bounds memory access flaw was found in the syscall tracing     functionality of the Linux kernel's ftrace subsystem. On a system with     ftrace syscall tracing enabled, a local, unprivileged user could use this     flaw to crash the system, or escalate their privileges. (CVE-2014-7826,     Moderate)

    * A race condition flaw was found in the Linux kernel's ext4 file system     implementation that allowed a local, unprivileged user to crash the system     by simultaneously writing to a file and toggling the O_DIRECT flag using     fcntl(F_SETFL) on that file. (CVE-2014-8086, Moderate)
