Cross-site request forgery (CSRF) vulnerability in the wp_ajax_wp_compression_test function in wp-admin/includes/ajax-actions.php in WordPress before 4.5 allows remote attackers to hijack the authentication of administrators for requests that change the script compression option.

CVE-2015-8834: Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in wp-includes/wp-db.php in WordPress before 4.2.2 allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via a long comment that is improperly stored because of limitations on the MySQL TEXT data type. NOTE: this vulnerability exists because of an incomplete fix for CVE-2015-3440

CVE-2016-4029: WordPress before 4.5 does not consider octal and hexadecimal IP address formats when determining an intranet address, which allows remote attackers to bypass an intended SSRF protection mechanism via a crafted address.

CVE-2016-5836: The oEmbed protocol implementation in WordPress before 4.5.3 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service via unspecified vectors.

CVE-2016-6634: Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in the network settings page in WordPress before 4.5 allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via unspecified vectors.

CVE-2016-6635: Cross-site request forgery (CSRF) vulnerability in the wp_ajax_wp_compression_test function in wp-admin/includes/ajax- actions.php in WordPress before 4.5 allows remote attackers to hijack the authentication of administrators for requests that change the script compression option.

CVE-2016-7168: Fix a cross-site scripting vulnerability via image filename.

CVE-2016-7169: Fix a path traversal vulnerability in the upgrade package uploader.

For Debian 7 'Wheezy', these problems have been fixed in version 3.6.1+dfsg-1~deb7u12.

Versions of WordPress prior to 4.5 are affected by multiple vulnerabilities :

 - A flaw exists that allows a reflected cross-site scripting (XSS) attack.  This flaw exists because the '/network/settings.php' script does not validate input to the 'first_comment_author' parameter before returning it to users.  This may allow a context-dependent attacker to create a specially crafted request that would execute arbitrary script code in a user's browser session within the trust relationship between their browser and the server.
 - A flaw exists related to request handling between a user and a server, where the server can be induced into performing unintended actions (Server Side Request Forgery aka SSRF).  By making a crafted request to the 'http.php' script and supplying Octal or Hexedecimal IP addresses, the server can be used to conduct host-based attacks.  This may allow an attacker to bypass access restrictions (e.g. host or network ACLs), conduct port scanning of internal networks, enumerate internal hosts, or possibly invoke additional protocols (e.g. Gopher, TFTP) which may give additional control over such requests.
 - A flaw exists related to the script compression option as HTTP requests do not require multiple steps, explicit confirmation, or a unique token when performing certain sensitive actions.  By tricking a user into following a specially crafted link, a context-dependent attacker can perform a Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF / XSRF) attack causing the victim to perform unspecified actions.

According to its self-reported version number, the WordPress application running on the remote web server is prior to 4.5.0.
It is, therefore, affected by the following vulnerabilities :

  - A server-side request forgery vulnerability exists due     improper request handling between a user and the server.
    An attacker can exploit this, via a specially crafted     request to the http.php script using octal or     hexadecimal IP addresses, to bypass access restrictions     and perform unintended actions. (CVE-2016-4029)

  - A cross-site scripting vulnerability exists due to     improper validation of user-supplied input to the     'first_comment_author' parameter. A context-dependent     attacker can exploit this, via a specially crafted     request, to execute arbitrary script code in a user's     browser session. (CVE-2016-6634)

  - A cross-site request forgery vulnerability exists due to     a failure to require multiple steps, explicit     confirmation, or a unique token when making HTTP     requests. An attacker can exploit this by convincing a     user to follow a specially crafted link. (CVE-2016-6635)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.
