Bazaar through 2.7.0, when Subprocess SSH is used, allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands via a bzr+ssh URL with an initial dash character in the hostname, a related issue to CVE-2017-9800, CVE-2017-12836, CVE-2017-12976, CVE-2017-16228, CVE-2017-1000116, and CVE-2017-1000117.

An update of the bzr package has been released.

The remote Redhat Enterprise Linux 7 host has one or more packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities that have been acknowledged by the vendor but will not be patched.

  - bzr: does not strip bzr+ssh SSH options (CVE-2017-14176)

  - Algorithmic complexity vulnerability in the ssl.match_hostname function in Python 3.2.x, 3.3.x, and     earlier, and unspecified versions of python-backports-ssl_match_hostname as used for older Python     versions, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (CPU consumption) via multiple wildcard     characters in the common name in a certificate. (CVE-2013-2099)

  - The ssl.match_hostname function in CPython (aka Python) before 2.7.9 and 3.x before 3.3.3 does not     properly handle wildcards in hostnames, which might allow man-in-the-middle attackers to spoof servers via     a crafted certificate. (CVE-2013-7440)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied on the package manager's report that the package is installed.

Adam Collard discovered that Bazaar, an easy to use distributed version control system, did not correctly handle maliciously constructed bzr+ssh URLs, allowing a remote attacker to run an arbitrary shell command.

CVE-2013-2099

Bazaar bundles SSL certificate checking code from Python, which had a bug that could cause a denial of service via resource consumption through multiple wildcards in certificate hostnames.

CVE-2017-14176

Adam Collard found that host names in 'bzr+ssh' URLs were not parsed correctly by Bazaar, allowing remote attackers to run arbitrary code by tricking a user into a maliciously crafted URL.

For Debian 7 'Wheezy', these problems have been fixed in version 2.6.0~bzr6526-1+deb7u1.

We recommend that you upgrade your bzr packages.
