In GIMP 2.8.22, there is a heap-based buffer overflow in read_channel_data in plug-ins/common/file-psp.c.

The remote Redhat Enterprise Linux 7 host has one or more packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities that have been acknowledged by the vendor but will not be patched.

  - gimp: predictable temporary file name in test-xcf.c unit test (CVE-2018-12713)

  - In GIMP 2.8.22, there is a heap-based buffer over-read in load_image in plug-ins/common/file-gbr.c in the     gbr import parser, related to mishandling of UTF-8 data. (CVE-2017-17784)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied on the package manager's report that the package is installed.

This plugin has been deprecated as it does not adhere to established standards for this style of check.

This update for gimp fixes the following issue :

  - CVE-2017-17789: Fix heap buffer overflow in PSP importer     (bsc#1073627).

This update was imported from the SUSE:SLE-15:Update update project.

    It was discovered that GIMP incorrectly handled certain images. If a user were tricked into opening a     specially crafted image, an attacker could possibly use this to execute arbitrary code. (CVE-2017-17784,     CVE-2017-17785, CVE-2017-17786, CVE-2017-17787, CVE-2017-17788, CVE-2017-17789)

  - In GIMP 2.8.22, there is a heap-based buffer overflow     in read_channel_data in     plug-ins/common/file-psp.c.(CVE-2017-17789)
