OpenEXR 2.3.0 has a memory leak in ThreadPool in IlmBase/IlmThread/IlmThreadPool.cpp, as demonstrated by exrmultiview.

The remote Redhat Enterprise Linux 8 host has one or more packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities that have been acknowledged by the vendor but will not be patched.

  - OpenEXR: Out-of-bounds write in makeMultiView.cpp (CVE-2018-18444)

  - OpenEXR 2.3.0 has a memory leak in ThreadPool in IlmBase/IlmThread/IlmThreadPool.cpp, as demonstrated by     exrmultiview. (CVE-2018-18443)

  - An issue was discovered in OpenEXR before 2.4.1. There is an out-of-bounds read in     ImfOptimizedPixelReading.h. (CVE-2020-11758)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied on the package manager's report that the package is installed.

This plugin has been deprecated as it does not adhere to established standards for this style of check.

OpenEXR (IlmBase) v2.4.0 fixes the following security vulnerabilities :

- CVE-2018-18444 Issue #351 Out of Memory

- CVE-2018-18443 Issue #350 heap-buffer-overflow

The relevant patches have been backported to the FreeBSD ports.

This update backports fixes for CVE-2018-18443 and CVE-2018-18444.
