An issue was discovered in Flask-CORS (aka CORS Middleware for Flask) before 3.0.9. It allows ../ directory traversal to access private resources because resource matching does not ensure that pathnames are in a canonical format.

The version of FreeBSD installed on the remote host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the 252f40cb-618c-47f4-a2cf-1abf30cffbbe advisory.

The remote Ubuntu 20.04 LTS host has a package installed that is affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the USN-6019-1 advisory.

    It was discovered that Flask-CORS did not properly escape paths before evaluating resource rules. An     attacker could possibly use this to expose sensitive information.

A directory traversal vulnerability was discovered in python-flask-cors, a Flask extension for handling Cross Origin Resource Sharing (CORS), allowing to access private resources.

This update for python-Flask-Cors fixes the following issues :
