A flaw was found in the check_chunk_name() function of pngcheck-2.4.0. An attacker able to pass a malicious file to be processed by pngcheck could cause a temporary denial of service, posing a low risk to application availability.

The remote Ubuntu 16.04 ESM / 18.04 ESM / 20.04 LTS host has a package installed that is affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the USN-6182-1 advisory.

    It was discovered that pngcheck incorrectly handled certain inputs. If a user or an automated system were     tricked into opening a specially crafted input file, a remote attacker could possibly use this issue to     cause a denial of service.

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

The remote Debian 9 host has a package installed that is affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the dla-3032 advisory.
