  - QEMU 4.2.0 has a use-after-free in hw/net/e1000e_core.c because a guest OS user can trigger an e1000e     packet with the data's address set to the e1000e's MMIO address. (CVE-2020-15859)

This issue occurs in the megasas_command_cancelled() callback function     while dropping a SCSI request. This flaw allows a privileged guest user to crash the QEMU process on the     host, resulting in a denial of service. The highest threat from this vulnerability is to system     availability.   - An integer overflow issue was found in the vmxnet3 NIC emulator of the QEMU for versions up to v5.2.0. It     may occur if a guest was to supply invalid values for rx/tx queue size or other NIC parameters.   - An out-of-bounds write flaw was found in the UAS (USB Attached SCSI) device emulation of QEMU in versions     prior to 6.2.0-rc0. The device uses the guest supplied stream number unchecked, which can lead to out-of-     bounds access to the UASDevice->data3 and UASDevice->status3 fields. A malicious guest user could use this     flaw to crash QEMU or potentially achieve code execution with the privileges of the QEMU process on the     host. (CVE-2021-3713)

  - A use-after-free vulnerability was found in the virtio-net device of QEMU. It could occur when the     descriptor's address belongs to the non direct access region, due to num_buffers being set after the     virtqueue elem has been unmapped. A malicious guest could use this flaw to crash QEMU, resulting in a     denial of service condition, or potentially execute code on the host with the privileges of the QEMU     process. (CVE-2021-3748)

  - A DMA reentrancy issue was found in the USB EHCI controller emulation of QEMU. EHCI does not verify if the     Buffer Pointer overlaps with its MMIO region when it transfers the USB packets. Crafted content may be     written to the controller's registers and trigger undesirable actions (such as reset) while the device is     still transferring packets. This can ultimately lead to a use-after-free issue. A malicious guest could     use this flaw to crash the QEMU process on the host, resulting in a denial of service condition, or     potentially execute arbitrary code within the context of the QEMU process on the host. This flaw affects     QEMU versions before 7.0.0. (CVE-2021-3750)

  - An off-by-one error was found in the SCSI device emulation in QEMU. It could occur while processing MODE     SELECT commands in mode_sense_page() if the 'page' argument was set to MODE_PAGE_ALLS (0x3f). A malicious     guest could use this flaw to potentially crash QEMU, resulting in a denial of service condition.

  - A flaw was found in the QXL display device emulation in QEMU. An integer overflow in the cursor_alloc()     function can lead to the allocation of a small cursor object followed by a subsequent heap-based buffer     overflow.   - A flaw was found in the virtio-net device of QEMU. This flaw was inadvertently introduced with the fix for     CVE-2021-3748, which forgot to unmap the cached virtqueue elements on error, leading to memory leakage and     other unexpected results. Affected QEMU version: 6.2.0. (CVE-2022-26353)

  - An out-of-bounds read flaw was found in the QXL display device emulation in QEMU. The qxl_phys2virt()     function does not check the size of the structure pointed to by the guest physical address, potentially     reading past the end of the bar space into adjacent pages. A malicious guest user could use this flaw to     crash the QEMU process on the host causing a denial of service condition. (CVE-2022-4144)

The course of action upon a perceived timeout actually being detected is     inappropriate: - on Intel hardware guests which did not originally cause the timeout may be marked as     crashed, - on AMD hardware higher layer callers would not be notified of the issue, making them continue     as if the IOMMU operation succeeded.   - long running loops in grant table handling In order to properly monitor resource use, Xen maintains     information on the grant mappings a domain may create to map grants offered by other domains. In the     process of carrying out certain actions, Xen would iterate over all such entries, including ones which     aren't in use anymore and some which may have been created but never used. If the number of entries for a     given domain is large enough, this iterating of the entire table may tie up a CPU for too long, starving     other domains or causing issues in the hypervisor itself. Note that a domain may map its own grants, i.e.
    there is no need for multiple domains to be involved here. A pair of cooperating guests may, however,     cause the effects to be more severe. (CVE-2021-28698)

  - Another race in XENMAPSPACE_grant_table handling Guests are permitted access to certain Xen-owned pages of     memory. The majority of such pages remain allocated / associated with a guest for its entire lifetime.
    Grant table v2 status pages, however, are de-allocated when a guest switches (back) from v2 to v1. Freeing     such pages requires that the hypervisor enforce that no parallel request can result in the addition of a     mapping of such a page to a guest. That enforcement was missing, allowing guests to retain access to pages     that were freed and perhaps re-used for other purposes. Unfortunately, when XSA-379 was being prepared,     this similar issue was not noticed. (CVE-2021-28701)

Error     handling in certain PoD cases has been insufficient in that in particular partial success of some     operations was not properly accounted for. There are two code paths affected - page removal     (CVE-2021-28705) and insertion of new pages (CVE-2021-28709). (We provide one patch which combines the fix     to both issues.) (CVE-2021-28705, CVE-2021-28709)

  - guests may exceed their designated memory limit When a guest is permitted to have close to 16TiB of     memory, it may be able to issue hypercalls to increase its memory allocation beyond the administrator     established limit. This is a result of a calculation done with 32-bit precision, which may overflow. It     would then only be the overflowed (and hence small) number which gets compared against the established     upper bound. (CVE-2021-28706)

  - A flaw was found in the USB redirector device (usb-redir) of QEMU. Small USB packets are combined into a     single, large transfer request, to reduce the overhead and improve performance. The combined size of the     bulk transfer is used to dynamically allocate a variable length array (VLA) on the stack without proper     validation. Since the total size is not bounded, a malicious guest could use this flaw to influence the     array length and cause the QEMU process to perform an excessive allocation on the stack, resulting in a     denial of service. (CVE-2021-3527)

  - An invalid pointer initialization issue was found in the SLiRP networking implementation of QEMU. The flaw     exists in the bootp_input() function and could occur while processing a udp packet that is smaller than     the size of the 'bootp_t' structure. A malicious guest could use this flaw to leak 10 bytes of     uninitialized heap memory from the host. The highest threat from this vulnerability is to data     confidentiality. This flaw affects libslirp versions prior to 4.6.0. (CVE-2021-3592)

  - An invalid pointer initialization issue was found in the SLiRP networking implementation of QEMU. The flaw     exists in the udp_input() function and could occur while processing a udp packet that is smaller than the     size of the 'udphdr' structure. This issue may lead to out-of-bounds read access or indirect host memory     disclosure to the guest. The highest threat from this vulnerability is to data confidentiality. This flaw     affects libslirp versions prior to 4.6.0. (CVE-2021-3594)

This issue occurs while handling the 'Information Transfer' command. This flaw     allows a privileged guest user to crash the QEMU process on the host, resulting in a denial of service.
    The highest threat from this vulnerability is to system availability. (CVE-2020-35505)

  - A use-after-free vulnerability was found in the am53c974 SCSI host bus adapter emulation of QEMU in     versions before 6.0.0 during the handling of the 'Information Transfer' command (CMD_TI). This flaw allows     a privileged guest user to crash the QEMU process on the host, resulting in a denial of service or     potential code execution with the privileges of the QEMU process. (CVE-2020-35506)

  - A stack overflow via an infinite recursion vulnerability was found in the eepro100 i8255x device emulator     of QEMU. This issue occurs while processing controller commands due to a DMA reentry issue. This flaw     allows a guest user or process to consume CPU cycles or crash the QEMU process on the host, resulting in a     denial of service. The highest threat from this vulnerability is to system availability. (CVE-2021-20255)

  - A flaw was found in the USB redirector device (usb-redir) of QEMU. Small USB packets are combined into a     single, large transfer request, to reduce the overhead and improve performance. The combined size of the     bulk transfer is used to dynamically allocate a variable length array (VLA) on the stack without proper     validation. Since the total size is not bounded, a malicious guest could use this flaw to influence the     array length and cause the QEMU process to perform an excessive allocation on the stack, resulting in a     denial of service. (CVE-2021-3527)

  - A flaw was found in the USB redirector device emulation of QEMU in versions prior to 6.1.0-rc2. It occurs     when dropping packets during a bulk transfer from a SPICE client due to the packet queue being full. A     malicious SPICE client could use this flaw to make QEMU call free() with faked heap chunk metadata,     resulting in a crash of QEMU or potential code execution with the privileges of the QEMU process on the     host. (CVE-2021-3682)

CVE-2021-20203

An integer overflow issue was found in the vmxnet3 NIC emulator of the QEMU. It may occur if a guest was to supply invalid values for rx/tx queue size or other NIC parameters. A privileged guest user may use this flaw to crash the QEMU process on the host resulting in DoS scenario.

CVE-2021-3416

A potential stack overflow via infinite loop issue was found in various NIC emulators of QEMU in versions up to and including 5.2.0.
The issue occurs in loopback mode of a NIC wherein reentrant DMA checks get bypassed. A guest user/process may use this flaw to consume CPU cycles or crash the QEMU process on the host resulting in DoS scenario.

CVE-2021-3416

The patch for CVE-2020-17380/CVE-2020-25085 was found to be ineffective, thus making QEMU vulnerable to the out-of-bounds read/write access issues previously found in the SDHCI controller emulation code. This flaw allows a malicious privileged guest to crash the QEMU process on the host, resulting in a denial of service or potential code execution.

For Debian 9 stretch, these problems have been fixed in version 1:2.8+dfsg-6+deb9u14.
