CVE-2023-22515: Zero-Day Vulnerability in Atlassian Confluence Data Center and Server Exploited in the Wild

Atlassian has been made aware of an issue reported by a handful of customers where external attackers may have exploited a previously unknown vulnerability in publicly accessible Confluence Data Center and Server instances to create unauthorized Confluence administrator accounts and access Confluence instances. Atlassian Cloud sites are not affected by this vulnerability. If your Confluence site is accessed via an atlassian.net domain, it is hosted by Atlassian and is not vulnerable to this issue.

The Atlassian Confluence Server running on the remote host has a confirmed vulnerability as referenced in the CONFSERVER-92475 advisory.

According to its self-reported version number, the Atlassian Confluence application running on the remote host is 8.x prior to 8.3.3, 8.4.x prior to 8.4.3 or 8.5.x prior to 8.5.2. It is, therefore, affected by a privilege escalation vulnerability.

Note that the scanner has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

The version of Atlassian Confluence Server running on the remote host is affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the CONFSERVER-92475 advisory.
