Videolan VLC prior to version 3.0.20 contains an Integer underflow that leads to an incorrect packet length.

The remote Ubuntu 16.04 LTS / 18.04 LTS / 20.04 LTS / 22.04 LTS / 23.10 host has packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the USN-6783-1 advisory.

    It was discovered that VLC incorrectly handled certain media files. A remote attacker could possibly use     this issue to cause VLC to crash, resulting in a denial of service, or potential arbitrary code execution.

The version of VLC media player installed on the remote host is prior to 3.0.20. It is, therefore, affected by multiple vulnerabilities:

  - Videolan VLC prior to version 3.0.20 contains an incorrect offset read that leads to a Heap-Based Buffer     Overflow in function GetPacket() and results in a memory corruption. (CVE-2023-47359)

  - Videolan VLC prior to version 3.0.20 contains an Integer underflow that leads to an incorrect packet     length. (CVE-2023-47360)

The remote Debian 10 host has packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the dla-3679 advisory.
