Atlassian Bamboo 5.x < 5.15.7 / 6.0.x < 6.0.1 Incorrect Permission Check RCE

high Nessus Plugin ID 101026

Synopsis

The remote web application is affected by a remote code execution vulnerability.

Description

According to its self-reported version number, the instance of Atlassian Bamboo running on the remote host is 5.x prior to 5.15.7 or 6.0.x prior to 6.0.1. It is, therefore, affected by a remote code execution vulnerability due to improper validation of edit permissions for deployment projects. An authenticated, remote attacker can exploit this to create a deployment project and use it to execute arbitrary code.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Atlassian Bamboo version 5.15.7 / 6.0.1 or later.
