Synopsis

The remote AIX host has a version of bind installed that is affected by a denial of service vulnerability.

Description

The version of bind installed on the remote AIX host is affected by a denial of service vulnerability due to improper handling of certain string formatting options. An authenticated, remote attacker can exploit this, via a malformed Address Prefix List (APL) record, to cause an INSIST assertion failure and daemon exit.

Solution

A fix is available and can be downloaded from the IBM AIX website.
