Synopsis

The remote Red Hat host is missing a security update for dnsmasq.

Description

The remote Redhat Enterprise Linux 6 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the RHSA-2017:2839 advisory.

- dnsmasq: heap overflow in the code responsible for building DNS replies (CVE-2017-14491)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the RHEL dnsmasq package based on the guidance in RHSA-2017:2839.
