Debian DLA-1253-1 : openocd security update

critical Nessus Plugin ID 106209

Synopsis

The remote Debian host is missing a security update.

Description

OpenOCD, an on-chip JTAG debug solution for ARM and MIPS systems, does not block attempts to use HTTP POST for sending data to localhost, which allows remote attackers to conduct cross-protocol scripting attacks, and consequently execute arbitrary commands, via a crafted website.

For Debian 7 'Wheezy', these problems have been fixed in version 0.5.0-1+deb7u1.

We recommend that you upgrade your openocd packages.

NOTE: Tenable Network Security has extracted the preceding description block directly from the DLA security advisory. Tenable has attempted to automatically clean and format it as much as possible without introducing additional issues.

Solution

Upgrade the affected openocd package.
