Synopsis

The remote Red Hat host is missing a security update for openslp.

Description

The remote Redhat Enterprise Linux 6 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the RHSA-2018:2308 advisory.

- openslp: Heap memory corruption in slpd/slpd_process.c allows denial of service or potentially code execution (CVE-2017-17833)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the RHEL openslp package based on the guidance in RHSA-2018:2308.
