Synopsis

The remote Red Hat host is missing a security update for bind.

Description

The remote Redhat Enterprise Linux 6 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the RHSA-2018:2571 advisory.

- bind: processing of certain records when deny-answer-aliases is in use may trigger an assert leading to a denial of service (CVE-2018-5740)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the RHEL bind package based on the guidance in RHSA-2018:2571.
