Synopsis

The remote Red Hat host is missing a security update for ntp.

Description

The remote Redhat Enterprise Linux 6 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the RHSA-2018:3854 advisory.

- ntp: Stack-based buffer overflow in ntpq and ntpdc allows denial of service or code execution (CVE-2018-12327)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the RHEL ntp package based on the guidance in RHSA-2018:3854.
