Synopsis

The remote Red Hat host is missing a security update for vim.

Description

The remote Redhat Enterprise Linux 6 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the RHSA-2019:1774 advisory.

- vim/neovim: ':source!' command allows arbitrary command execution via modelines (CVE-2019-12735)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the RHEL vim package based on the guidance in RHSA-2019:1774.
