Synopsis

The remote machine is affected by a vulnerability.

Description

The remote NewStart CGSL host, running version CORE 5.04 / MAIN 5.04, has xorg-x11-server packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability:

- An incorrect permission check for -modulepath and
-logfile options when starting Xorg X server allows unprivileged users with the ability to log in to the system via physical console to escalate their privileges and run arbitrary code under root privileges.
(CVE-2018-14665)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade the vulnerable CGSL xorg-x11-server packages. Note that updated packages may not be available yet. Please contact ZTE for more information.
