NewStart CGSL CORE 5.04 / MAIN 5.04 : setup Vulnerability (NS-SA-2019-0075)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 127282

Synopsis

The remote machine is affected by a vulnerability.

Description

The remote NewStart CGSL host, running version CORE 5.04 / MAIN 5.04, has setup packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability:

- Setup in Fedora and Red Hat Enterprise Linux added /sbin/nologin and /usr/sbin/nologin to /etc/shells. This violates security assumptions made by pam_shells and some daemons which allow access based on a user's shell being listed in /etc/shells. Under some circumstances, users which had their shell changed to /sbin/nologin could still access the system. (CVE-2018-1113)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade the vulnerable CGSL setup packages. Note that updated packages may not be available yet. Please contact ZTE for more information.
