Synopsis

The remote Red Hat host is missing one or more security updates for icedtea-web.

Description

The remote Redhat Enterprise Linux 8 host has packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the RHSA-2019:2004 advisory.

- icedtea-web: unsigned code injection in a signed JAR file (CVE-2019-10181)

- icedtea-web: path traversal while processing <jar/> elements of JNLP files results in arbitrary file overwrite (CVE-2019-10182)

- icedtea-web: directory traversal in the nested jar auto-extraction leading to arbitrary file overwrite (CVE-2019-10185)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the RHEL icedtea-web package based on the guidance in RHSA-2019:2004.
