Synopsis

The remote device is missing a vendor-supplied security patch

Description

According to its self-reported version, the Cisco IOS XE Software is affected by a vulnerability that allows an authenticated, local attacker to inject arbitrary commands that are executed with elevated privileges. The vulnerability is due to insufficient input validation of commands supplied by the user. An attacker can exploit this vulnerability by authenticating to a device and submitting specially crafted input to the affected commands. An exploit allows the attacker to gain root privileges on the affected device.
