Description

The remote NewStart CGSL host, running version CORE 5.05 / MAIN 5.05, has sox packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability:

- In the startread function in xa.c in Sound eXchange (SoX) through 14.4.2, a corrupt header specifying zero channels triggers an infinite loop with a resultant NULL pointer dereference, which may allow a remote attacker to cause a denial-of-service. (CVE-2017-18189)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade the vulnerable CGSL sox packages. Note that updated packages may not be available yet. Please contact ZTE for more information.
