Amazon Linux 2 : apache-commons-beanutils (ALAS-2020-1395)

high Nessus Plugin ID 133867

Synopsis

The remote Amazon Linux 2 host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of apache-commons-beanutils installed on the remote host is prior to 1.8.3-15. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ALAS2-2020-1395 advisory.

In Apache Commons Beanutils 1.9.2, a special BeanIntrospector class was added which allows suppressing the ability for an attacker to access the classloader via the class property available on all Java objects.
We, however were not using this by default characteristic of the PropertyUtilsBean. (CVE-2019-10086)

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the tested product security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Run 'yum update apache-commons-beanutils' to update your system.
