Synopsis

The remote web application server is affected by a Privilege Escalation vulnerability

Description

A privilege escalation vulnerability exists in IBM WebSphere Application Server 7.0.0.0 through 7.0.0.45, 8.0.0.0 through 8.0.0.15, 8.5.0.0 through 8.5.5.17, 9.0.0.0 through 9.0.5.3 when using token-based authentication in an admin request over the SOAP connector. An authenticated, remote attacker can exploit this to gain higher privileges on the system.

Solution

Apply the Fix Pack recommended in the vendor advisory. Alternatively, upgrade to the minimal fix pack levels required by the interim fix and then apply Interim Fix PH23853.
