Atlassian Jira 7.6 < 8.5.2 XSRF (JRASERVER-70406)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 135765

Synopsis

The remote web server hosts a web application that is affected by a cross-site request forgery vulnerability.

Description

According to its self-reported version number, the instance of Atlassian Jira hosted on the remote web server is version 7.6.x prior to 8.5.2. It is, therefore, affected by a cross-site request forgery vulnerability due to flaws in various installation setup resources. An unauthenticated, remote attacker can exploit this issue, by tricking a user into visiting a specially crafted web page, allowing the attacker to configure a Jira instance, which has not yet finished being installed.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Atlassian Jira version 8.5.2, 8.6.0 or later.
