Synopsis

The version of Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager installed on the remote host is affected by multiple vulnerabilities.

Description

The version of Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM) installed on the remote host is prior to 14.3. It is therefore affected by the following vulnerabilities:

- An out of bounds read error exists. An authenticated, local attacker can exploit this issue to disclose memory contents. (CVE-2020-5833)

- A directory traversal vulnerability exists. An unauthenticated, remote attacker can exploit this issue to determine the size of files in a directory. (CVE-2020-5834)

- An elevation of privilege vulnerability exists due to a race condition in client remote deployment. An authenticated, local attacker can exploit this issue to gain elevated privileges. (CVE-2020-5835)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager version 14.3 or later.
