Amazon Linux AMI : json-c (ALAS-2020-1381)

high Nessus Plugin ID 138054

Synopsis

The remote Amazon Linux AMI host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of json-c installed on the remote host is prior to 0.11-7.8. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ALAS-2020-1381 advisory.

json-c through 0.14 has an integer overflow and out-of-bounds write via a large JSON file, as demonstrated by printbuf_memappend. (CVE-2020-12762)

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the tested product security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Run 'yum update json-c' to update your system.
