Ubuntu 20.04 LTS : libslirp vulnerability (USN-4437-1)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 139025

Synopsis

The remote Ubuntu host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote Ubuntu 20.04 LTS host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the USN-4437-1 advisory.

Ziming Zhang and VictorV discovered that libslirp incorrectly handled replying to certain ICMP echo requests. A remote attacker could possibly use this issue to cause libslirp to crash, resulting in a denial of service.

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the Ubuntu security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected libslirp-dev and / or libslirp0 packages.
