Synopsis

The remote Ubuntu host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote Ubuntu 16.04 LTS host has a package installed that is affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the USN-4500-1 advisory.

It was discovered that bsdiff mishandled certain input. If a user were tricked into opening a malicious file, an attacker could cause bsdiff to crash or

potentially execute arbitrary code.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected bsdiff package.
