Synopsis

The remote Ubuntu host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote Ubuntu 16.04 LTS host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the USN-4507-1 advisory.

It was discovered that ncmpc incorrectly handled long chat messages. A remote attacker could possibly exploit this with a crafted chat message, causing ncmpc to crash, resulting in a denial of service.

Solution

Update the affected ncmpc and / or ncmpc-lyrics packages.
