Synopsis

The remote web application server is affected by a security bypass vulnerability

Description

The IBM WebSphere Application Server running on the remote host is version 7.0.0.x through 7.0.0.45, 8.0.0.x through 8.0.0.15, 8.5.0.x prior to 8.5.5.15, or 9.x prior to 9.0.0.10. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability due to the use of expression language which allows an unauthenticated, remote attacker to bypass security restrictions.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to IBM WebSphere Application Server 8.5.5.15, 9.0.0.10, or later. Alternatively, upgrade to the minimal fix pack levels required by the interim fix and then apply Interim Fix PH02063.
