Synopsis

The remote Oracle Linux host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote Oracle Linux 6 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ELSA-2021-9019 advisory.

- Sudo before 1.9.5p2 has a Heap-based Buffer Overflow, allowing privilege escalation to root via sudoedit
-s and a command-line argument that ends with a single backslash character: (CVE-2021-3156)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected sudo and / or sudo-devel packages.
