F5 Networks BIG-IP : BIG-IP APM vulnerability (K32049501)

high Nessus Plugin ID 146390

Synopsis

The remote device is missing a vendor-supplied security patch.

Description

The version of F5 Networks BIG-IP installed on the remote host is prior to 16.0.1.1 / 16.1.0. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the K32049501 advisory.

- On BIG-IP APM version 16.0.x before 16.0.1.1, under certain conditions, when processing VPN traffic with APM, TMM consumes excessive memory. A malicious, authenticated VPN user may abuse this to perform a DoS attack against the APM. Note: Software versions which have reached End of Software Development (EoSD) are not evaluated. (CVE-2021-22985)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to one of the non-vulnerable versions listed in the F5 Solution K32049501.
