Security Updates for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (Feb 2021)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 146418

Synopsis

The Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central install is missing a security update.

Description

The Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central install is missing a security update. It is, therefore, affected by a cross site scripting (XSS) vulnerability due to improper validation of user-supplied input. An authenticated attacker can exploit this, by entering specially crafted URLs in the Links and Notes feature, in order to disclose information.

Note that Nessus has not attempted to exploit this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central to CU21 for the Spring 2019 release, 16.10 for 2020 Release Wave 1, 17.4 for 2020 Release Wave 2, or later.
