The remote web application server is affected by a vulnerability

Description

The IBM WebSphere Application Server running on the remote host is version 7.0.0.0 through 7.0.0.45, 8.0.0.0 through 8.0.0.15, 8.5.0.0 through to 8.5.5.19, or 9.0.0.0 through 9.0.5.6. It is, therefore, vulnerable to an XML External Entity Injection (XXE) attack when processing XML data. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to expose sensitive information or consume memory resources.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to IBM WebSphere Application Server 8.5.5.20, 9.0.5.7, or later. Alternatively, upgrade to the minimal fix pack levels required by the interim fix and then apply Interim Fix PH33228.
