Atlassian Confluence < 6.13.18 / 6.14 < 7.4.6 / 7.5 < 7.8.3 Arbitrary File Read (CONFSERVER-60469)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 146869

Synopsis

A web application running on the remote host is affected by an arbitrary file read vulnerability

Description

According to its self-reported version number, the Atlassian Confluence application running on the remote host is prior to 6.13.18, 6.14.x prior to 7.4.6 or 7.5.x prior to 7.8.3. It is, therefore, affected by an arbitrary file read vulnerability in its ConfluenceResourceDownloadRewriteRule class due to an incorrect path access check. An unauthenticated, remote attacker can exploit this to read arbitrary files within WEB-INF and META-INF.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Atlassian Confluence version 6.13.18, 7.4.6, 7.8.3, 7.9.0 or later.
