NewStart CGSL CORE 5.04 / MAIN 5.04 : NetworkManager Vulnerability (NS-SA-2021-0048)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 147328

Synopsis

The remote machine is affected by a vulnerability.

Description

The remote NewStart CGSL host, running version CORE 5.04 / MAIN 5.04, has NetworkManager packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability:

- It was found that nmcli, a command line interface to NetworkManager did not honour 802-1x.ca-path and 802-1x.phase2-ca-path settings, when creating a new profile. When a user connects to a network using this profile, the authentication does not happen and the connection is made insecurely. (CVE-2020-10754)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade the vulnerable CGSL NetworkManager packages. Note that updated packages may not be available yet. Please contact ZTE for more information.
